From November 30 to December 12, COP28 (28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Prof. YOKOI Atsufumi, Vice President for Global Engagement was invited to participate.
Vice President Yokoi participated as a “Climate Leader” in the “Sustainable Innovation Forum” held on December 4-5 in the “Innovation Zone” organized by Climate Action, based in London. Additionally, on December 7-8, he attended the “World Climate Summit,” organized by the World Climate Foundation, based in Copenhagen. Furthermore, he participated in the “RewirEd Summit” on December 8, the first global education summit on education and climate change, organized by Dubai Cares, based in Dubai. During this summit, representatives from UN agencies, government institutions, and various stakeholders in the education and climate sectors gathered to exchange opinions actively, with a mission to place educational transformation at the center of climate strategies. While on-site, Vice President Yokoi reunited with young individuals active in UN agencies, engaging in discussions and exchanging views on projects related to youth engagement that Okayama University is involved in.
Through the initiatives and activities of the UNESCO Chair at the university, Okayama University aims to contribute to planetary well-being by co-creating the desired future of the local community and the Earth with diverse stakeholders.
