Vice President Yokoi Invited to Attend UK National Day at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai

On May 22, Prof. Atsufumi Yokoi, Vice President for Global Engagement at Okayama University, attended the UK National Day held at the United Kingdom Pavilion of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, as an invited guest. He participated as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) at the invitation of Carolyn Davidson, Commissioner General for the UK at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai.

A “National Day” at the Expo is a designated day during which each participating country hosts official ceremonies to promote international understanding and friendship.

On the day of the event, members of the Imperial Family, representatives of the Government of Japan for the Expo, the UK Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, and the Governor of Osaka Prefecture were among the distinguished attendees. The final program featured the Japan premiere of Planet Earth III Live in Concert, presented by BBC Studios and a full orchestra. The UK Government called for strengthened solidarity and global co-creation to address challenges facing the planet.
Vice President Yokoi also met with Commissioner General Davidson, the British Ambassador to Japan, and the British Consul-General in Osaka to exchange views on concrete areas of UK–Japan collaboration, including potential cooperation with Okayama University.

Okayama University will continue to work with diverse stakeholders to promote global well-being as a university that co-creates a desirable future for both the region and the planet.
