On May 26, Mr. Ilan Enverga, Assistant Representative of the SDG4 Education 2030 High-Level Steering Committee and a global youth representative, visited Professor Atsufumi Yokoi, Vice President for Global Engagement and UNESCO Chairholder of the Okayama University UNESCO Chair.
Together with Ms. Sofia Bermudez, Youth Ambassador of the Okayama University UNESCO Chair, has served as a representative of the UNESCO SDG4 Youth & Student Network. In 2022, they submitted the Youth Declaration on Transforming Education to UN Secretary-General António Guterres at the Transforming Education Summit held during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The purpose of the visit was for Ms. Bermudez, in her capacity as Youth Ambassador, to introduce the activities of the Okayama University UNESCO Chair to Mr. Enverga and to explore the establishment of a cooperative relationship between the University’s UNESCO Chair and the UNESCO youth network.
Vice President Yokoi and Mr. Enverga exchanged views on promoting intergenerational solidarity and transformative action for the well-being of people and the planet, as well as on creating greater synergy and social impact through collaboration with the Global RCE Conference marking the 20th anniversary of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), to be held in Okayama in October under the auspices of the United Nations University (UNU).
Okayama University will continue to accelerate its initiatives in research, education, and social contribution through multi-stakeholder partnerships and intergenerational collaboration, toward co-creating a desirable future for both the region and the planet.
