UNESCO Chairholder Vice President Yokoi and Vice-Chair Professor Hiroki Fujii Selected for Drafting Committee of “RCE Okayama Declaration 2025”

Vice President Atsufumi Yokoi, UNESCO Chairholder of the Okayama University UNESCO Chair, and Professor Hiroki Fujii, Vice-Chair of the UNESCO Chair, have been selected as members of the drafting committee for the “RCE Okayama Declaration 2025,” which will be prepared at the Global Conference of Regional Centres of Expertise (RCEs) on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), organized by the United Nations University (UNU).

A total of ten experts from RCE-related organizations around the world were selected for the drafting committee, with Vice President Yokoi and Professor Fujii representing Japan as the only members from the country.
The RCE network is a global initiative recognized by the United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS) to promote Education for Sustainable Development through regional collaboration. The Global RCE Conference brings together representatives from RCEs worldwide to exchange knowledge and strengthen partnerships for advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Vice President Yokoi and Professor Fujii were selected in recognition of RCE Okayama’s achievements and the region’s long-standing contributions to ESD.

Okayama University will continue to advance ESD initiatives in collaboration with local communities and stakeholders, contribute to the achievement of the SDGs, and strengthen international cooperation.
